Injuries Reported After Clarksburg Bus Crash

Ten elementary school children were injured when two school buses were involved in a crash Wednesday morning at the intersection of Route 355 and Stringtown Road in Clarksburg, Md.

A bus traveling south on Stringtown attempted to brake and crossed the double yellow lines, authorities said. A bus traveling north left the road while attempting to avoid the southbound bus.

The northbound bus struck several trees and bushes, investigators said. The southbound bus also left the road, striking a guardrail.

The southbound bus wasn't carrying any students, but the northbound bus was carrying up to two dozen students at Little Bennett Elementary School. Ten students and both bus drivers were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.

The driver of the southbound bus, 36-year-old Eustacia Heard, was cited for failure to drive right of center and negligent driving, police said.
