A 4-month-old girl was found dead Sunday morning inside a van her family had been living in, police say.
Brooklyn Ruth Irby was found in a van parked at the Motel 6 at 497 Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County Police Department spokesman Paul Starks said.
First responders took the girl to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Irby's family is homeless and had been living in the van. Police say Irby was with family members inside the van before police arrived.
The baby's cause of death is unknown at this time.
Officers interviewed witnesses and an investigation has been labeled "undetermined" pending an autopsy.
