Teen Hit by Car While Walking to School in Howard County

17-year-old transported to Shock Trauma in serious condition

A teen is in serious condition Tuesday morning after being struck by a car in Howard County.

The 17-year-old boy was hit around 7:30 a.m. while walking to River Hill High School in Clarksville.

Authorities say the driver of a 1998 Honda Accord was headed westbound on Linden Linthicum Lane when he struck the student in the crosswalk near Little Bells Row. The driver remained on the scene. Neither he nor his passenger were injured.

The student was transported to the University of Maryland's Shock Trauma Center.

Police are continuing to investigate. They have not released the names of those involved in the crash.

The River Hill Community Association says it requested additional speed enforcement in the area prior to Tuesday's incident. The county has informed the community that additional lighting is expected to be installed at the new pedestrian crossings this spring.
