Howard County Officer Hurt in Roadside Crash

Pfc. Neil White injured after pickup truck crashed into two vehicles during traffic stop Monday night

Howard County Police are investigating whether a man fell asleep at the wheel before his pickup truck struck a police cruiser that was stopped along Interstate 70.

The crash happened after Pfc. Neil White pulled over a Ford Focus on westbound I-70 in the Marriottsville area Monday night.

During the traffic stop, police say a Chevrolet truck hit the cruiser, which was then pushed into the rear of the Ford.

White, 38, was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he is in stable condition.

The drivers of the car and truck were not injured.

Police say they are investigating the possibility that the driver of the truck fell asleep just before the crash.
