Homicide Victim Lived Dangerous Lifestyle: Mother

The mother of a D.C. homicide victim desperately tried to save her daughter from a dangerous lifestyle, she told News4.

Delonta Jovon Wynn, 34, was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Darlene Marie Bryant, who was stabbed multiple times May 13 in the 4300 block of Wheeler Road SE.

Bryant struggled with drug addiction, according to her mother, Dolores Bryant

“I always felt like that knock would come on the door and the men in suits were going to come in and tell me, 'We have bad news. Your daughter's dead,'” she said.

Dolores Bryant said she tried to get her help and moved her to different neighborhoods, but nothing worked.

Instead, she has looked after her granddaughters, 17-year-old honor student Ja'Lene and 21-year-old Dolores, who wants to be an attorney, to make sure they don't follow their mother's path.
