Holocaust Museum Marks Solemn Anniversary

Security guard killed one year ago

A private memorial service at the U.S. Holocaust Museum marked the first anniversary of the attack at the facility by a white supremacist.

Officer Stephen Johns, 39, of Temple Hills, Md., was shot and killed while working as a security guard.

The suspect, James von Brunn, died in January before he could face trial.

Flags at the museum flew at half-staff in memory of Johns.

In addition, a new summer youth leadership program named for Johns will begin later this month. About 50 students from the Washington area will participate in the seven-week internship program.
