Heating Oil Tanker Crashes, Ties Up Traffic

A tanker truck carrying home heating oil crashed into a concrete barrier on the Fairfax County Parkway near Hooes Road, according to Fairfax County Fire spokesperson Lt. Raul Castillo.

A small amount of fuel oil leaked from the tanker after the crash, according to Lt. Castillo.  Police officers at the scene closed the parkway as a precaution to allow Fairfax County fire personnel to contain the leak, Castillo said. 

The driver of the tanker truck was not injured, according to EMS personnel at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to police.
