Heat Sends 7 To Hospital At Maryland Game

This weekend marked the return of college football for most teams across America.

But it seems like Mother Nature beat everyone in our area, no matter who they were rooting for.

Saturday’s steamy weather is being blamed for at least two dozen heat-related illnesses at the University of Maryland's season-opening football game at Byrd Stadium in College Park.

Seven people were taken to the hospital from the game, in which the Terps defeated William & Mary, 7-6.

Prince George’s County police say everyone is expected to be OK.
