A gorgeous Monday with low humidity will give way to oppressive heat the rest of the week, with heat indexes close to or above 100 degrees.
Humidity will begin to move back into the D.C. area overnight, as a warm front moves from the south to the north through our region.
Tuesday will be hot and muggy with temperatures in the low to mid 90s and the heat index closer to 100 degrees. We could get a few showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Wednesday will be similar: hot and humid, with a late day rain moving into the region. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue Wednesday overnight through at least the first half of Thursday.
This rain will be directly correlated to the remnants of Barry. Most of the rain should move out through the second half of Thursday.
Friday and the weekend will be extremely hot and muggy with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and the heat index possibly over 105 degrees.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has activated the District's Heat Emergency Plan.
