Heat Index Tops 100° This Week, But There's an End in Sight

A brutally hot week is in store, with heat indexes of more than 100 and a chance of storms every day this week, Storm Team4 says.

Monday was hot and humid, with plenty of sunshine. A record high of 99 was recorded at BWI and high of 95 was reported at Dulles.

Storm Team4 says we'll continue to have highs in the 90s through Thursday with heat indexes ranging from about 100 to 105.

Storms started popping up about 4 p.m. Monday and some scattered storms with heavy rain and strong winds will continue into the overnight hours.

The storm chances will continue the rest of the week.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel: the humidity is expected to drop by Saturday, and temperatures will be in the lower 80s.

Storm Team4 expects cooler temperatures and blue skies to continue next Monday and Tuesday.
