The hard drive went missing from Glenkirk Elementary.

Officials were quick to point out that students’ social security numbers were not on the drive.

What the drive did contain were names, addresses and grades, as well as screening information for student services.

Prince William County police have been told of the possible theft, but have not officially opened an investigation until it’s determined whether it was actually stolen.

The school’s principal is notifying parents of the missing information, and those with questions can call (703) 753-1702 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, August 1 and Tuesday, August 2.
