Hanover Exxon Robbed Twice in Two Days

Police say the incidents might be related

Officers are looking at the possibility that three incidents at the same Exxon gas station are related.

The Exxon gas station located in the 7600 block of Arundel Mills Boulevard in Hanover was robbed at knifepoint at 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

Later that day, officers in the area encountered an occupied vehicle in front of the gas station. The vehicle accelerated and sped out of the Exxon parking lot after seeing the arriving officers, police said.

Officers pursued the vehicle until it became stuck in the median of 295 south near Powder Mill Road, police said. Demarcus Terrell Butler, 23, was charged with multiple traffic violations, including fleeing and eluding police and driving with a suspended/revoked license.

The passenger, Desmond Torrell Butler, 22, was arrested on an open arrest warrant.

Officers returned to the Exxon after receiving a call that indicated a second vehicle was related to the fleeing vehicle. Police searched the vehicle of Javone Joshua Smith, 22, and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun. Smith was charged with possession of a handgun and vehicle registration violations.

Friday officers responded to the same Exxon for an armed robbery that had just taken place.

The initial investigation revealed that three men entered the store. One of the men was armed with a baseball bat and demanded money, took money and fled the store.

The men left in a blue Honda Pilot driven by a fourth man. Several officers searched the nearby highways and communities, but were unable to locate the men.

The men are described as three black males wearing black masks, dark hooded sweatshirts and dark jeans. One of the men wore a red bandanna on his neck.

Western District Detectives have taken control of the investigation. Anyone with information on the events should call 410-222-6155.
