Former Gymnastics Coach Arrested for Alleged Sexual Relationship With Teen

A Virginia gymnastics coach has been arrested for allegedly having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a teenage girl.

Aryan Mazloum-Yazdi, 28, is charged with five counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a child, Fairfax County Police said.

Mazloum-Yazdi was a gymnastics coach at Capital Gymnastics National Training Center in Burke until Saturday, when the center announced it had fired Mazloum-Yazdi. Police said he was arrested Friday at his home in Manassas.

A police dispatcher said no additional details would be released.

A phone number for Mazloum-Yazdi could not be located. A woman who answered the phone at the gymnastics school declined to comment.

But the gymnastics school did release a statement later Satuday, saying it "takes its obligation to provide a safe and healthy environment for its athletes very seriously."

"Capital Gymnastics will continue to maintain a safe and healthy gym environment for its athletes and shall be vigilant in enforcing related policies," the center said.
