A man wanted in a shooting in southwest D.C. was living with a group of squatters in a foreclosed home in Fort Washington, Maryland, authorities learned Thursday.
D.C. police and U.S. marshals were looking for 28-year-old Saeve Evans when they invaded the home in the Tantallon neighborhood – known for million dollar waterfront homes.
Evans was wanted in the shooting of three men and three women early Aug. 10 on N Street SW.
Neighbors told News4 they suspected something wasn’t right at the house where Evans stayed.
“They had a huge party there that disrupted everybody so we were very concerned about it, but what we didn’t know is that there were criminals there,” Ron Weiss said.
A police source close to the investigation told News4 up to 12 people were living in the house illegally, including two children. Everyone was forced to leave.
“The marshal told us that he was giving us back our neighborhood, and that tells me that the foreclosure problem is taking our neighborhood away from us,” Weiss said.

Evans was the second man arrested in the shooting near Nationals Park. Leonard Johnson, 21, was arrested Aug. 15. All of the victims survived.
