Groper Strikes Again in Fairfax County

Another woman in the Springfield area has come forward, saying she was groped by a stranger in public. It’s one of eight assaults in the past two months that Fairfax County police believe are related.

Police said the most recent assault happened about 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon at a bus stop on Commerce Street. The victim said she screamed and ran after a man groped her from behind.

The victim described the man as having a thin build with a short beard and a black baseball cap. Police said her description matched what’s been reported in earlier assaults. Other victims have described the man as being in his 30s, about 5-feet-8-inches tall, with a neatly-trimmed beard.

All eight incidents have happened in the Springfield area since Sept. 7. The victims have ranged in age from 15 to 40 years old.
