A 14-year-old girl drowned on Father's Day in Silver Spring.
Grace Tamo was an only child. She was trying to learn to swim in the pool at her family's new apartment complex at 2217 Georgian Way.
Somehow she ended up in the deep end. A lifeguard pulled her from the water and performed CPR until Montgomery County Fire and Rescue arrived and took over. Tamo was rushed to Holy Cross Hospital, where she later died.
Tamo would have been a freshman at Blair High School this fall.
