Girl Falls From Fourth-Story Window in Silver Spring

officials believe the girl and her sibling were looking out at the snow when she accidentally fell

A 3-year-old girl was seriously injured Monday after she fell from the window of a fourth-floor apartment in Silver Spring.

The girl and her 5-year-old  were looking out at the snow when she accidentally fell from the Grand Bel Manor condominiums in the 3800 block of Bel Pre Road about 9:10 a.m., Montgomery County Fire and EMS officials believe. Investigators believe the girl was trying to touch the snow.

Two adult family members were home at the time, authorities said. Police said there are no indications that any laws were broken.

The girl has been transported to Holy Cross Hospital and was expected to be transported to Children's National Medical Center later. She is in serious but stable condition, authorities said shortly before 1 p.m.

Last year, also in Silver Spring, a four-year-old boy fell from the ninth floor of an apartment building  in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road. He was badly injured, but a tree broke his fall, possibly saving his life.
