Girl Allegedly Sexually Assaulted at Dunbar

Six students have been charged in an alleged sexual assault at Dunbar High School, police said.

The alleged incident took place inside the school during school hours the afternoon of Nov. 22.

The alleged attack wasn't reported until the girl went home and told her parents, according to D.C. Public Schools. She was taken to a hospital that evening and a report was filed with police.

Dunbar learned about the accusations Tuesday morning.

Six boys who attend the school were charged with first-degree sexual abuse, police said. The victim knows at least some of the suspects, NBC Washington's Jackie Bensen reported.

The arrested students have been removed from school pending the investigation, according to D.C. Public Schools. Additional security is in place at Dunbar.

Dunbar parents were to receive a letter about the allegations Monday.
