    Georgetown Receives $100M Donation

Georgetown University says the former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers has given the school $100 million, the largest donation ever in the school's history, to create a public policy school.

Frank H. McCourt Jr. graduated from Georgetown in 1975 and sold the Dodgers last year for a reported $2.15 billion after taking the team into bankruptcy in 2011.

The donation surpasses the previous record $87 million gift to Georgetown in 2010.

The new school will be named the McCourt School of Public Policy and will launch in October, becoming the first new school at Georgetown since 1957.

A McCourt Fellows Program will also recruit and offer qualified students full scholarships.

The school will focus on analysis of massive data files from government agencies and other sources to research education, health, poverty and other subjects.
