Georgetown Day School Purchases Land for Expansion

Georgetown Day School has purchased land for a planned campus expansion.

Land in the Tenleytown neighborhood currently occupied by Safeway and Martens Volvo-Volkswagen will be used to reunite the lower grade levels with the high school. The lower and middle schools are on MacArthur Boulevard four miles away from the high school.

Planning is in the early stages, so it’s not clear what the expansion will include, school officials said, but per the purchase agreement, a grocery store will not be built on the land.

The Safeway will remain open for at least the next 10 months.
