Gas Prices Follow Dow's Lead, Drop

WASHINGTON -- While the economy continues to struggle, gas prices are offering some relief.

For the first time in a while, gas prices less than $3 can be found in the area.

Cars lined Friday up at a Costco in Prince William County where cheap gas is available. One who said he has paid as much as $145 to fill his Lincoln Navigator paid about $81 Friday. But few customers had confidence that the relatively low prices would last.

With oil prices steadily falling, gas prices are doing the same. One station in northwest Washington still lists regular gas at $3.98. But across the river in Arlington, it dipped to $3.59. In Woodbridge, many stations have prices less than $3.15.
