Classes to Resume at Montgomery College After Gas Leak

Several buildings at Montgomery County College in Germantown, Maryland, were evacuated Monday morning because of a broken gas line.

The 4-inch, high-pressure gas line at the science building broke just before 10 a.m. Fire officials said there was an odor throughout the area.

Firefighters and hazmat crews went to the scene.

Montgomery County fire officials said one of the evacuated buildings includes a child care center.

People evacuated from the buildings were sheltered in an ambulance bus.

Roads around Observation Drive were closed but have reopened.

Classes will resume at 5 p.m. Monday, according to the college.
