An electrical malfunction caused a fire on the roof of a Gaithersburg restaurant early Sunday, according to fire officials.
Montgomery County Fire spokesman Pete Piringer said on Twitter that the fire was accidental and the Sardi’s Restaurant on North Frederick Avenue suffered less than $100,000 damage.
Firefighters were able to knock down the flames quickly. Traffic in the area was briefly rerouted as crews worked at the scene.
Piringer said one firefighter suffered a minor laceration injury.
