GW Students Hold “Die-In” Demonstration to Protest Ferguson Decision

Students at the George Washington University have become the latest group to protest the recent events in Ferguson, Missouri.

Images on social media Tuesday show GW students lying on cold bricks during a "Die-In" at the university's central location, Kogan Plaza.

The students are protesting a Ferguson grand jury's decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown.

"It's raining and in the 30's out here but students are not moving," Nick W (@nickatknite) posted on Twitter.

Calling the demonstration #GWFerguson, GW student groups such as Amnesty International, the Progressive Student Union and others agreed to support the four-and-a-half-hour Die-In, which began at noon.

"The time to act on this is now -- towns across the country have organized protests, and GW students are about to do the same," protest organizer Kingo Kiema wrote in a press release.

Students have also created a list of demands for the university, asking them to ensure a safe space to report incidents of racial bias and anti-bias training for all University Police Department officers, among other requests.
