Front Royal Man Nailed in Gun Sting

Police had a firearms sting operation going on for quite some time with Don Simonpietri, the former owner of a Front Royal pawnshop who pleaded guilty in Charlottesville, Va., Monday to charges stemming from the illegal sale of weapons.

Specifically, he sold firearms without a license and sold a weapon to a man he knew was a convicted felon. What really nailed  him was that he sold a lot of weapons to undercover police officers.

Authorities said they seized 1,300 guns from the 64-year-old man or his co-defendant, Charles Shipe. Some of the weapons were allegedly used in the commission of crimes in the District and Baltimore.

Simonpietri faces 10 years in prison.
