Freight Train Hits SUV in Prince George's County

Woman pulled from vehicle with serious innjuries

A freight train has stuck an SUV in Prince George's County, and one person has been rescued from the vehicle.

A slow-moving CSX freight train was headed northbound when it hit the SUV, which was on the tracks at the time. The SUV was turned onto its side and came to rest about 50 yards north of the crossing.

A woman on her 30s was pulled from the SUV. She has been transported to Prince George's County Hospital. She has serious injuries, but is suspected to survive.

Prince George's County Fire/EMS was on the scene at 4500 Decatur St. in Bladensburg. Local police have now taken over the investigation.

It's not yet known whether the driver tried to cross against a light, or the warning system failed somehow.
