Freeze Warning for Areas North and West of DC

Upper 20s to around 30 degrees overnight

We could experience the coldest temperatures of the season so far, with portions of the D.C. region under a freeze watch and warning overnight Friday.

Temps in many areas north and west of the District will drop to the upper 20s to around 30 degrees from late Friday until Saturday around 9 a.m.

The warning is in effect for Howard County in Maryland, and Loudoun and Fauquier counties in Virginia. A watch is in effect for Fairfax County, Va.

The chill could have a big impact on sensitive plants, with what could be a fatal frost in some areas, said Storm Team 4 Meteorologist Veronica Johnson. If you can bring plants inside overnight, consider doing so.
