Free Gas in Oxon Hill, Md.

For almost 100 drivers in Oxon Hill, Md., Friday, it cost them absolutely nothing to fill up their gas tanks.

The first 95 people in line at the BP station on St. Barnabas Road just before 4 p.m. got to fill up for free, thanks to WPGC 95.5 and Pohanka Honda.

The radio station spent the afternoon broadcasting live from the gas station, and the car dealership brought over some of its more fuel efficient models to show off.  Those include the Honda Civic and Honda Accords.  Both of those get more than 33 miles per gallon.

The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the D.C. metro area today is $3.72.  If you figure that an average gas tank for a small or mid-size car holds 15 gallons, that means many drivers could save about $55 thanks to the promotion.
