A 16-year-old student in Frederick, Maryland, was charged with assaulting a teacher Thursday.
Police said the assault occurred shortly after 1 p.m. in a classroom at Tuscarora High School.
The school resource officer quickly detained the student, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.
The teacher was treated for minor injuries at Frederick Memorial Hospital; Emergency Medical Service personnel treated the student at the scene.
The student was transported to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office and was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services, authorities said in a statement.
The assault happened a day after two teens were injured in a shooting outside Frederick High School Wednesday night.
