Frager's Opens Temporary Location in Capitol Hill, Months After Fire

Saturday, Frager's Hardware will open a new, temporary store on Capitol Hill, months after a fire destroyed its original building.

The temporary store is in a smaller building near the intersection of 11th and Pennsylvania Avenue in Southeast D.C.

The store and garden center will operate from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week.

The owners say the original building, which was destroyed in a massive fire June 5, is still under construction.

No word on when it will be ready for them to move back in.

Fire investigators have said that the most likely cause of the blaze was "the careless discard of smoking material."

Frager's was an institution in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. It opened another pop-up shop -- a summer location in Eastern Market -- just four days after the fire.
