A longtime Pentagon leader finally received a full military funeral Friday, nearly four months after his still-unsolved murder.
The ashes of John Wheeler III were placed at Arlington National Cemetery.
Wheeler was found dead December 31 in a landfill in Delaware. He’d been beaten to death, according to authorities.
Wheeler was last seen alive a day earlier in downtown Wilmington, Del. Police do not have any suspects at this point. In fact, they don’t even have a murder weapon or know where he was killed.
Wheeler, a former U.S. Army officer, played a key role in establishing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
