Fisherman Rescued Morning After Boat Capsizes in Bay

Police say a commercial fisherman has been rescued from a marshy island after his boat capsized in Chincoteague Bay along Maryland's Eastern Shore.

The man was found on Big Bay Marsh about 7 a.m. Sunday and was rescued by his father and another waterman, said Maryland Natural Resources Police Sgt. Brian Alber.

Albert says the boat capsized Saturday evening, and the man swam to the nearest land he could find. His father began searching for him when he didn't come home.

The man was taken to a hospital after his rescue, reported the Daily Times.

Police did not immediately identify the man. Police say he may have been suffering from hypothermia when he was found, but it was not thought to be life-threatening.
