Surplus Means Bigger Pay Bump for Fairfax Co. Employees

County board approved a two percent salary increase

Fairfax County, Va., employees will get their first pay raises in two years.

On Tuesday, the Fairfax Board approved a 2 percent increase in salaries for all employees.

“This increase is a well-deserved recognition of the hard work and sacrifices our County employees have endured and continue to endure as we recover from the Great Recession,” Chair Sharon Bulova said.

In April, the board set aside enough money in the budget for a 1.5 percent pay increase. An extra half-percent was added on after county leaders found a budget surplus.

The pay increases will go in effect Sept. 24.

The last pay raise for Fairfax County employees was in 2009.
