Three People Escape 2-Alarm House Fire in Manassas

Fire officials say three people were able to safely escape a 2-alarm house fire in Manassas early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 10600 block of Tattersall Drive in the Lake Jackson community at 2 a.m. When crews arrived, they saw heavy fire moving from the back of the home to the roof.

A second alarm was called when the home next door was damaged by the fire and showed signs that it might ignite.

"It was really, really hot. Even standing across the street, you could feel the heat," neighbor Anthony Pryor said.

No injuries were reported, Unfortunately, the family's pets did not survive the fire.

There was no one home at the house next door when the flames spread there. Both homes were deemed uninhabitable.

The home suffered $330,000 in damage. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced family of three.

A building inspector was called to the scene to secure the part of the home that was burned.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
