Fire Destroys Charles County Saw Mill

Officials say a two-alarm fire caused more than $1 million in damages to a Charles County, Md. saw mill Thursday afternoon.

According to Deputy State Fire Marshal Bruce Bouch, the accidental blaze started just after 1 p.m. near an electric motor attached to the mill.

Employees were working at the time, and when the fire started instructed everyone to leave the area.

More than 100 firefighters from Charles, Calvery, St. Mary's and Prince George's Counties responded to the fire, which was extinguished within two hours.

Bouch said the saw mill was heavily damaged, as were three trailers on the property at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
