Fiery Truck Crash Blocks Northbound I-95

A fiery tractor-trailer crash has snarled traffic on I-95 near MD-198, near Laurel, during the Thursday morning commute.

Bumper-to-bumper traffic that backed up for miles began squeezing by on limited lanes by about 6:30 a.m., but expect continued delays.

Before sunrise, a tractor-trailer slammed into a disabled car and burst into flames. The occupant of the car had escaped before the crash and no injuries were reported.

The powerful blaze caused serious damage to both vehicles, fusing together the two vehicles and charring both the truck cab and car.

Crews have sinced separated the vehicles, but the main lanes remain closed as crews work to remove a second tractor-trailer from the median.

Drivers on the northbound lanes are being diverted onto the Intercounty Connector (ICC).
