Father Accused of Killing Son Due in Court

55-year-old Wayne Price admitted to shooting his son, Matthew

A Gaithersburg man accused of killing his son is due in court for a bond review this afaternoon.

Authorities say that 55-year-old Wayne Matthew Price has been charged with first-degree murder after he admitted to shooting and killing his 23-year-old son, Matthew Eugene Price, at around 8:45 p.m. Saturday evening following an altercation between the two.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Matthew Price lying on the pavement in front of the apartment building in the 7900 block of Spiceberry Circle, suffering from a gunshot wound in his chest. 

The younger Price was later pronounced dead at the scene after attempts were made to resuscitate him.  Wayne Price was arrested at the scene after being questioned by police.

Matthew Price is listed in the Maryland Sex Offender Registry, which notes a 2009 conviction in New Jersey for forcible sexual contact with a minor. According to the registry's notation, the offense took place when Price was 19 and the victim was "14 or 15 years old."
