A pedestrian was struck by a bus in Rockville, Md., on Wednesday, according to Montgomery County police.
Police said the victim was struck by a Montgomery County Ride On bus just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Rockville Pike and Halpine Road near the Twinbrook Metro Station.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police initially said that the woman had died, but later retracted that statement.
Northbound lanes of Rockville Pike at the intersection remained closed for hours.
The victim was identified as Jila Hamidieh, 63, of Rockville. .
