Georgia Avenue Reopened After Fatal Crash

Police have reopened Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring after a fatal crash sent two men to the hospital, police said.

Mario Adalberto Montoya Flores, 28, died from his injuries, police said.

Flores was driving a Nissan Frontier pickup truck north when he struck another pickup that was attempting to turn left from Hewitt Avenue onto Georgia Avenue.

Flores and the Toyota driver, 50-year-old Israel A. Vasquez Bonilla, were taken to Suburban Hospital, police said.

Bonilla's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Police responded about 1:50 a.m. Wednesday and closed the road to traffic. They reopened the road after the morning commute.

Police are still investigating what caused the crash.
