A Northern Virginia Church is mourning the loss of one of its members, after she was found dead in a creek in Upstate New York.
The body of 49-year-old Linda Cheplick was found Sunday afternoon, in the town of Elmira Heights.
At this time, police are not saying who found the body. Cheplick, who lives in Falls Church, was in Elmira Heights to help her father in law, who is recovering after a car accident.
Cheplick was an active member of St. Mary Orthodox Church in Falls Church. Her pastor says the mother of 3 taught Sunday school, was president of the Ladies Guild, and was a regular reader of the gospel. He says the congregation was heart broken after learning of her death, and many of them want answers into how she died.
Elmira Heights Police will not say if Cheplick's death is suspicious, and are still waiting for autopsy results to determine how she died. However, they have notified people in the community that they believe this is an isolated incident and that the public is not in danger.
