4 Mugged Within 2 Hours in 5-Mile Radius

Authorities think crimes may be linked

Four robberies in a two-hour time span may be linked, according to Fairfax County police.

All of the crimes happened Thursday night within a 5-mile radius, according to authorities.

The first happened in Franconia about 10:15 p.m. outside of a building in the 6900 block of Kingstowne Village Parkway. Police said three men wearing ski masks held up a 27-year-old woman who was leaving the building at gunpoint and demanded money from her.

At 10:30 p.m., closer than half a mile away on Norham Drive, a 22-year-old woman was the victim of a similar crime. Police said one of the three assailants hit her in the head with a gun before fleeing the scene.

About 30 minutes later, a 20-year-old man in the 6300 block of Dana Avenue in Springfield, reported being mugged by three men wearing hooded sweatshirts as he pulled into his driveway.

The fourth victim, a 25-year-old man in Alexandria, reportedly was threatened and robbed by a trio of men near the intersection of Quander Road and Stokes Lane.
