Fairfax Mother Pleads Guilty to Child Abuse for Second Time

A Fairfax County mother who served jail time for sticking her young children with needles has pleaded guilty to child cruelty for the second time.

Xin Riu Lin, a mother of three, is accused of beating her 8-year-old son with a plastic hanger and her fists, News4 reported. She was arrested and charged after a Child Protective Services worker reported seeing bruises, scratches and puncture wounds on her 8-year-old son's body.

Back in 2010, Lin was also arrested for hurting the boy, who was just 3 years old at the time.

He was brought to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment, and doctors discovered a needle embedded in his rear end. Lin admitted to police she would stab her children with sewing needles when she got angry.

She pleaded guilty and served a short jail term.

Neighbor Robert Holmes said he saw Lin and her children regularly and that he was stunned by the charges.

"She was very nice with the kids," he said. "They often went for walks around the neighborhood."

Lin is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 4 in the latest case.
