Fairfax County Police Chief Named Deputy County Executive

Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has appointed a new deputy county executive: David M. Rohrer, who has served as chief of the Fairfax County Police Department since 2004.

Rohrer will be responsible for Fairfax County’s public safety programs, including overseeing the police department, the fire and rescue department, the office of emergency management and the public safety communications department. He will also have a liaison relationship with the Office of the Sheriff and the courts, the county said in a news release.

Rohrer's appointment means that Deputy County Executive Rob Stalzer, who currently oversees public safety in addition to his other duties, will focus on planning, development and transportation.

Rohrer has been with the Fairfax County Police Department for almost 32 years. He will receive an annual salary of $191,168.
