FBI: Wigged Bandit Sought for Two Bank Robberies, One Attempted Robbery

A woman wore a blonde wig when she robbed two banks in Virginia and attempted to rob a federal credit union in Maryland earlier this month, according to the FBI.

About 11:30 a.m. July 20 a woman passed a teller a note demanding money at United Bank at 2071 Chain Bridge Road in Vienna, Va. The teller complied and the woman fled, police said.

Police believe the same woman robbed the Bank of America at 14001 Metrotech Drive in Chantilly, Va., after 9 a.m. July 15. Again she fled with money after handing a teller a printed note.

The same woman also attempted to rob the APL Federal Credit Union at 8870 McGaw Road in Columbia, Md., at 3:10 p.m. July 19, the FBI said. She passed a note to a teller demanding money, but after being told cash was not kept at the location, she left in a dark-colored, older model Honda Accord.

The wigged bandit is described as a black woman in her 20s standing 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-5 with a medium build wearing a blonde wig and sunglasses. During the July 19 and July 20 incidents she carried a black and gray Coach purse.

Anyone who recognizes the woman or knows anything about the robberies should call police at 703-691-2131 or contact Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477), online at www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org or by texting TIP187 and the tip to CRIMES/274637.

The FBI's Washington Field Office is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the woman.
