The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Fauquier County, Virginia, on Friday evening.
The NWS rated the twister as EF-0, the lowest rating on the Enhanced Fujita scale, which rates the intensity of the storm. They estimated peak winds at 75 mph.
The agency said the tornado traveled 1.2 miles with a maximum width of 100 yards, primarily over a wooded area in the Broad Run region. There were no reports of injuries or deaths.
The NWS issued a flood warning in Virginia for Manassas, Manassas Park, and parts of Prince William County until 3:30 p.m.
The NWS said stream gauges indicated Broad Run Creek in Bristow, Virginia, remains above flood stage. Water levels have crested and are falling. Some locations that may experience flooding include, Linton Hall, Bull Run, Haymarket, Manassas, Sudley, Manassas Park and Gainesville.
Storm Team4's Lauryn Ricketts said the region will heat up throughout the day before a cold front moves in Saturday evening, triggering more heavy storms, lightning and posssible flooding.
The Fauqier County Sheriff's Office said John Marshall Highway at the Prince William County line is closed. Washington Street in Haymarket will be closed for debris removal, and flooding remains a problem throughout the area.

In Montgomery County, Maryland, parts of the Sligo Creek Trail at New Hampshire Avenue and Sligo Creek Parkway is closed. Portions of the trail have slid into the creek.
