All lanes are back open on Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg, Virginia, area after crews finished work on new temporary lanes.

The northbound lanes of I-95 at Route 17 were closed from about 4 p.m. Saturday through 9 a.m. Sunday. Crews moved three northbound lanes at the overpass in Stafford County into temporary lanes in the median.

Workers put down about 2,000 tons of asphalt, 20,000 feet of lane markings and placed about 5,000 feet of concrete barriers during the weekend construction, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Northbound traffic will use the tempoarary lanes over the next year as crews replace the overpass above Route 17, which was built in 1963, VDOT said.

VDOT advised drivers to use caution in the Exit 133 area as they navigate the temporary lanes.
