Ex-Howard Soccer Coach Gets 14 Years After Sex Sting

Man convicted of soliciting 13-year-old girl for sex

LOUISA, Va. -- The former men's soccer coach at Howard University has been sentenced in Virginia to 14 years in prison for soliciting sex from what he thought was a 13-year-old girl.

Louisa Circuit Judge Timothy K. Sanner sentenced Joseph Okoh Monday. A jury convicted him in November.

According to prosecutors, Okoh was arrested in January 2008 after he engaged in a sexually graphic Web chat with what he thought was a teenager, then showed up to meet her a local hotel.

His conversations were actually with a police investigator who was posing as a girl.

Howard suspended Okoh as head men's soccer coach after his arrest. A telephone call seeking his current status was not immediately returned Monday. He is not listed among Howard coaches on its Web site.
