Evidence Questionable on Levy Murder Suspect

Did Guandique kill her, or is this just one of his psychotic fantasies?

There is only one true fact about the Chandra Levy murder case from 2001, and that's that it will never end.

This is why it would make sense that lawyers are disagreeing about whether there's enough evidence to convict recently charged suspect Ingmar Guandique. So far the only really known things about this guy are that he is an Illegal who likes to brag about attacking women, which is why he's already in jail.

The Washington Times reported Monday that the evidence against Guandique is "not a slam dunk." (Take that, George Tenet!) It's still unclear what federal and city officials really have on the guy, because they haven't shared much beyond the original arrest-warrant affadavit, in which Guandique is quoted saying terrible, graphic things about his crime. What would be more helpful would be something like, say, a "DNA match." You know, forensic evidence.

That's because Guandique's story has its inconsistencies. He told one person that he choked Levy to death, which matches the damage done to the body. He told another, however, that he "cut her throat and stabbed her," but Levy's body shows no traces of that. Also, it's unclear from his statements whether Guandique was alone or not at the time, or with one of his treacherous "gangs."

There's still a decent amount of stuff on Guandique, sure, but as of now, the case may not be strong enough to go all Iraq-Warrin' on this guy. Maybe he only wants fame! Because if you're a psychopath looking for fame, claiming the Levy murder is a goldmine.  He is probably getting so many free cigarettes from his fellow murderer inmates right now...
