Elkton Store Sells Winning Powerball Ticket

Unknown man hits $125 million jackpot

The owners of Wesley's in Elkton will have a very Merry Christmas this year after they sold the winning ticket in Saturday's $125 million Powerball jackpot.

Maryland Lottery officials verified the purchase early Monday morning after the unknown winner called the restaurant and liquor store on Christmas morning.

According to The Baltimore Sun,  a man asked for the Powerball numbers from the previous night. When a clerk read them off, the man said "Looks like I am the winner."

For the record, the numbers were 14, 16, 30, 51, and 52. The Powerball was 19.

Lottery officials say that the store will get a $25,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.

The man, who is reportedly not a regular customer of Wesley's, told the clerk that he would come by the store later this week. Maryland lottery spokeswoman Carole Everett told The Sun that the $125 million prize came with a $78.9 million cash option and would come to $51.87 million after taxes.
