Elementary School Teacher Charged with Heroin Possession

In Montgomery County,Maryland an elementary school teacher is charged with possession of heroin after a traffic stop.

Rebecca Amick, 25, was one of three people in a car police in Silver Spring stopped for speeding downtown.

Police searched the car and the occupants and found Amick with nine bags of heroin. She was charged with possession of heroin and released on personal recognizance.

A spokeswoman for Montgomery public schools says Amick teaches special education at Woodlin Elementary School and has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.

Police say a male passenger was also charged with possession of heroin, and a male driver was charged with speeding.
